My Name is Norma Harris Allen
a 28-year-old resident of Granville County. My journey has been marked by resilience; I tragically lost my father to domestic violence and my grandfather to cancer before the age of 8. Life threw me another curveball in my teens with a disability, and after a misdiagnosis in my home county, I had to venture beyond to find the right answers. I'm all about exploring and diving into books My heart beats for my home, and I'm on a mission to shape a better future. Picture this: Granville County stepping into the modern era with improved internet, affordable housing, accessible healthcare, top-notch recreational spaces, and a county-wide transportation system. I'm on the lookout for volunteers to help make this happen. Who's in? Let's do this!
Grassroots Gal
For over Two Decades, I've called Granville County home, and my commitment to making a positive impact on my community has only grown stronger over the years. Even back in 2008, I found myself encouraging my neighbors to "Barack the vote." I didn't even know what canvassing was then, but I took to the streets, engaging with my community and urging them to participate in the democratic process.
Fast forward to more recent times, I took another step in my civic journey by becoming the second vice chair of the Granville County Democratic Party. Serving in this role, I've actively contributed to the party's initiatives and advocated for the interests of our community.
In November I attended a listening session, where I had the opportunity to hear directly from current community members about their concerns. It was a powerful experience that fueled my determination to be informed and responsive to the needs of Granville County.
From those early days of grassroots efforts to my current leadership position, my journey reflects a deep-seated commitment to the betterment of Granville County. I'm honored to play a role in shaping the political landscape and working towards positive change for the community I call home.
